Presented by Toyota and in partnership with Eastern University and SOAR, the Young Women LEAD Conference is open to high school girls in Fayette and surrounding counties. The one-day conference is FREE and registration is limited to 600 students and chaperones .

Recognized as one of the Top 50 Student Leaders in the Nation and a Rotary International Ambassadorial Scholar to England, Julie graduated Summa Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa in Leadership Studies from The Ohio State University. At the age of just 23, Julie was hired to serve as a Senior Management Consultant in Leadership Development for the Pentagon where she served for four years.
With her increasing successes, Julie became increasingly frustrated with how toxic media messages and negative role models were misleading young women away from achieving their own dreams. Amber Philpott is an award winning news anchor with WKYT TV in Lexington, Ky. She is living her dream as a television news journalist, she proudly brings the news to Central and Eastern Kentucky each night as co-anchor of the 4, 4:30, 5, 5:30, 6 and 11pm newscasts.
More About Amber Philpott
Amber is a native of Central Kentucky having grown up in Cynthiana. She graduated summa cum laude from Morehead State University in 2003. Her broadcast career began shortly after graduation at WYMT-TV in Hazard, KY.
While there she served as reporter and co-anchor of Mountain News this morning. Amber came to WKYT in 2004.
Amber was named 2013 Best Newscaster in Kentucky by the Associated Press, an award she also won in 2009. She has been a part of several award winning newscasts, and has been nominated for two regional Emmy awards.
Amber is living out her life-long dream and doing so in her home state that she loves so dearly. Her parents always said she was blessed with the gift of gab and that she should use it. Amber makes dozens of public appearances a month and enjoys meeting and shaking the hands of those that turn to WKYT for their news source each day.
Amber is committed to her community and to giving back. Currently she serves as the Board Chair for the Bluegrass Chapter of the American Red Cross. For the last five years Amber has served as chair for their annual Disaster Blaster event, raising thousands of dollars for relief efforts. She works closely with the American Diabetes Association, serving as the honorary chair for the Annual Step Out Walk to Stop Diabetes in central Kentucky. In 2014 Amber was named Volunteer of the Year for the ADA for her efforts to raise awareness about diabetes in Kentucky. She has also been recognized by Baptist Health with the Celebration of Women Award for her work in the community. In 2015 Amber was given the Celebration of Life Award for raising awareness about breast cancer. She is a member of Republican Christian Church in Cynthiana where she serves a deacon.
Amber is married to her best friend and Cynthiana native, Steve Hill. When she isn’t at the station or out in the community you can find Amber in the gym working out, running or with a good book in hand.

Samantha is a Diversity & Compliance specialist at Toyota Motor Manufacturing in Georgetown, KY. In her 3 years at Toyota she has also worked as an Accounting & Finance Specialist at the Toyota plant in Mississippi. She began her journey with Toyota during her undergrad in which she completed 2 co-op terms in Human Resources and Accounting & Finance.

She holds a B.A. degree in Organizational Leadership with an emphasis in Human Resources Management from Northern Kentucky University.
Sheila Kalas is the owner/founder of Fitness Plus, Inc., a personal training and wellness company, established in Lexington, KY in 1995. She has her Masters degree in exercise physiology from the University of Kentucky. In addition to running her company, Sheila is a personal trainer herself, specializing in clients over 50. She has been a contributor to several fitness/wellness publications, including The Chevy Chaser and Women’s Health, as well as appears on radio and TV as a wellness expert.

She helped develop the personal fitness trainer educational program at the Lexington Healing Arts Academy and is the exclusive distributor of the SO-50 suspension trainer and a certified educator for the “Strong Over 50” fitness training program. Sheila has served her community by serving on several non-profit boards, including, but not limited to the International Book Project and the Kentucky Folk Art Museum. She currently sits on the advisory board for Cumberland Valley National Bank.
