Cincinnati Breakout Sessions

Breakout Sessions – 2016

Students have the choice to attend a variety of interactive discussion panels and breakout sessions. These breakouts will be delivered by various successful women that represent a variety of careers and personal choices. These women are experts on issues that high school girls are currently facing. The sessions will teach important skills needed to be successful in the workforce and ways to develop their leadership potential.

A.  Be Bold. Be Confident:  In “Be Bold. Be Confident”, we will discuss how being a young woman in today’s society can be a powerful thing. We will talk about self-worth, negative stereotypes and how to overcome them. We will also demonstrate how to empower other women and girls in our day to day lives.

B.  Creating Your Story: Exploring Careers in the Tri-State Region:  Have you ever wanted to know more about particular careers or the “real” story of how successful women have achieved excellence in their careers?  This interactive panel session will feature successful women from our tristate community whose careers are thriving.  They will share their career areas and personal career pathways. You will have the opportunity to ask questions and speak with each of the members of the panel.

C.  Mirror, Mirror on the Wall – Social Media Reflections and Reality :What do those selfies say about you? To post or not to post? Is there a chance you’re being too social on social media? Get answers and advice to some common questions and concerns on the best use of social media and learn about hidden risks.

D. The Real Deal on College Prep: A panel of college admissions professionals will share their expertise to help you on your journey from high school to college.

E.  Grow Up Green: A Savvy Girl’s Guide to Financial Success:  Grow-Up Green is an initiative that will teach you how to manage money, create wealth and make wise financial decisions. By participating in the GUG workshop, you will be prepared and poised for savvy and successful financial futures that will change your life and your family’s lives for generations to come.

F.  Careers in STEM:  The percentage of women in STEM related careers is lower compared to men in the same fields. Choosing a career in STEM does not mean you have to sit behind a desk solving equations all day. Come hear from a panel of successful women with very different backgrounds tell of their career journey and get insight into the possibilities of careers in STEM related fields.

G.  Tough as Nails: Protecting Yourself with Self Defense: In this interactive session, you will learn concepts and skills to help you develop important and empowering self protection strategies.
