Mission and History
Young Women LEAD provides high school girls with meaningful experiences designed to help them discover their innate qualities and strengths and to challenge them to reach higher levels of personal growth and development.
Young Women LEAD was developed as a result of a 2009 focus group comprised of female executive leaders in Louisville, KY concerned about a lack of opportunities for high school girls to build self esteem, confidence and understand how to face the challenges unique to their gender and generation. After 6 months of research, investigation, and evaluating statistical data it was determined that local cities and communities could benefit from a one-day conference that currently did not exist anywhere in the country.
To exemplify the importance of women helping women and offering these high school girls positive role models, the conference is organized, managed and implemented by SOAR. SOAR is an early-launch leadership development program for high potential women from the major corporations in their city who are on the leadership continuum having moved from an individual contributor to one who leads people or managers. SOAR is located in 10 cities in the U.S. and continuing to expand. Click Here to learn more about SOAR.
