Calling all pet lovers! April 11 is National Pet Day. Today is a great day to celebrate the physical and mental health benefits of having a pet. Pets can hold a special place in our hearts but also contribute to our overall health by lowering cortisol, cholesterol, and blood pressure levels.
National Pet Day started in 2006 when Colleen Paige, pet and family lifestyle expert and an animal welfare advocate wanted to bring attention to the ongoing needs of pets waiting in shelters to be adopted. “Don’t shop – Adopt!” is the motto of National Pet Day.
