Sophomore and Junior Girls from  Central Illinois Are Invited to Attend This Year’s Young Women LEAD

The YWL conference is for high school girls and focuses on Leadership, Education and Development (LEAD). The conference features interactive keynotes, interactive breakout sessions, community and business leaders, and more. The conference is FREE to all participants. YWL teaches important skills needed to be successful in the workforce and ways to develop confidence and leadership potential.

This year’s conference will feature keynote presenter Julie Carrier. Julie has been recognized as the #1 Global Coach for Young Women and is the trusted authority on leadership development and confidence for girls and young women worldwide. Julie Carrier is leading a movement to “empower those who empower girls and empower girls to empower each other.”

All attendees will have the opportunity to send a postcard to space with Blue Origin’s Club for the Future. Each attendee will receive a postcard that Club for the Future will launch into space and back on a New Shepard rocket and return to you stamped “Flown to Space.”

Location: Lincoln Trail College

Who: Central Illinois Sophomores and Juniors who currently attend one of the following high schools:

  • Hutsonville High School
  • Newton Community High School
  • Marshall High School
  • Oblong High School
  • Palestine High School
  • Robinson High School.

Registration:

  • Registration is now closed.
  • Registration is first-come, first-served and limited. We encourage students to register themselves individually so they may select their breakout session choices.
  • Lunch will be provided and the cost is FREE.
  • All attendees must have a YWL Liability Waiver to attend the event. No one will be permitted to attend the event without a signed waiver.
Schedule:
  •   8:30 AM –   8:55 AM Arrival and Registration
  •   9:00 AM – 10:30 AM Opening Keynote Presentation with Julie Carrier
  • 10:35 AM – 11:15 AM Breakout Session 1
  • 11:20 AM – 12:00 PM Lunch / Breakout Session 2
  • 12:05 PM – 12:45 PM Breakout Session 2 / Lunch
  • 12:50 PM –   1:30 PM Breakout Session 3
  •   1:30 PM –   2:00 PM Closing Session
  •   2:00 PM                     Dismissal by Schools
Breakout Sessions:

Students have the choice to attend a variety of interactive discussion panels and breakout sessions. These breakouts will be delivered by various successful women that represent a variety of careers and personal choices. These women are experts on issues that high school girls are currently facing. The sessions will teach important skills needed to be successful in the workforce and ways to develop their leadership potential. Breakout sessions include:

  • Breaking the Barrier in STEM – Bring your STEM career questions for this question and answer panel with women who work in STEM careers.
  • DISCypher the Team Puzzle: Unraveling Personalities for Success – This exciting session will decode the secrets to successful teamwork! Ever wondered why some teams just ‘click’? It’s all about understanding personalities. Unleash your teamwork superpowers by unlocking your DISC personality code. Get ready to reveal your unique strengths and learn how to use your personality power on your path to success at school, work, home and beyond!
  • Leaving the Nest – Your Next Steps – Managing money, staying safe and finding your voice.
  • Life After High School: Post Graduation Options – Do you ask yourself ‘What should I do after school’? This session will discuss options and provide guidance for making that decision. Whether it’s going straight into the workforce, enrolling in a trade school or heading off to college – your options are limitless!
  • The Places You Can Go – What Does Your Life Wheel Look Like? – Do you want to take control of your life and create something special…the way YOU want it? Join me on a journey to find YOUR version of success. Together, we will explore what life balance looks like for YOU – from identifying your current foundation to creating an individualized success plan. Learn how to take charge of YOUR life journey and leave the session with a lifelong tool that allows you to unlock the power of personal success. See how far you can go when living YOUR version of Life Balance.
  • Stress: The Good, The Bad, and The Healthy – Being a teenager can be stressful, but not all stress is bad! Participants will learn the distinction between good stress, bad stress, and healthy stress. We’ll discuss the impact of stress on the body and common triggers of teen stress. Students will learn a few stress management strategies and be given the opportunity to practice a mindfulness strategy.
  • Are you a ‘Girl Boss’? – Learn how you can be your own boss and start your own business. Yes, YOU can be an entrepreneur.
  • Smart, Strong, and Innovative Women in Healthcare – Over 70% of Crawford Memorial Hospital’s middle and top level leadership is comprised of women. Women truly do have leadership roles at CMH and are Girl Bosses! Hear these smart, strong and innovative women’s journeys to get to where they are and important traits for this next generation that will lead as well as healthcare careers and opportunities.
  • Mindset Mastery: Creating habits for your goals! – This session will include exercises to get us out of fight or flight so habits can be transformed quickly. During the session, you will focus on steps to forming habits that will help achieve your goals. You will leave with an understanding of how the brain works and how to step out of your comfort zone to achieve the life you envision.
  • Creating Healthy Habits – Join us for this interactive session where we will delve into topics such as eating not only to look good, but more importantly to FEEL good and fueling our bodies for DAILY LIVING.
  • Championing Yourself & Others – This session will focus on the importance of reaching the best you both physically and mentally and being a champion to other women along the way.
  • Taking a Chance on Yourself – This interactive session will inspire you to take a chance on yourself to pursue and go beyond your goals.
