Ready, Set, Design: The 2024 Young Women LEAD National T-Shirt Design Competition

Show us how creative you are! Young Women LEAD is seeking a one-of-a-kind design for the upcoming year’s conference t-shirt. The design should incorporate this year’s theme – Reach for the Stars and the YWL logo. If your design is selected, you will receive a gift basket, a conference t-shirt, and recognition on Young Women LEAD’s website, social media, and promotional materials.

Eligibility: The contest is open to high school students (grades 9-12). Participation in the promotion/contest constitutes entrant’s full and unconditional agreement to and acceptance of these official rules.

Design:

• The design should include the Young Women LEAD logo and the theme Reach for the Stars and should be placed on a transparent background.
• You can modify the YWL logo to fit your design.
• Keep in mind the design will be printed on a t-shirt.
• The design must be your own original work and must not include any third-party logos or copyrighted material.
• Utilize our Young Women LEAD Brand Identity Standards for colors and brand style. Design must only include the YWL brand colors. Designate if your design is for the front or back of the shirt.
• By entering the contest, you agree that your submission is your own work.
• Be prepared to upload your design in the following format: PSD (Photoshop), AI (Adobe Illustrator), jpeg, eps or PDF.
• The winning design will be selected by Young Women LEAD and printed on the official conference T-shirt, social media, and promotional materials.
• All submissions become the property of Young Women LEAD. Young Women LEAD reserves the right to use all designs for future marketing purposes.
• No reproduced or copyrighted images will be accepted.

Process/Timeline: 

Contest Begins: February 1, 2024

Deadline for submission: April 30, 2024 (midnight EST) You must complete the entire application. Entries will not be accepted if application is incomplete or sent separately from the online form.

Criteria for Selecting the Winning Design:  The winning design will be determined by the creativity of the design and how well it incorporates the Young Women LEAD logo and “Reach for the Stars” theme. A panel of judges will select the winning design.

Selection of winner: May 15, 2024. Winner will be notified via phone call and email.

Prize:  The winner will receive the following:

• A gift basket valued at $200
• One conference shirt
• Recognition on the Young Women LEAD website, emails, promotional materials, and social media.

YWL Logo: Email kimberly@youngwomenlead.com for a copy of the logo and colors to use in your design. You are welcome to modify the logo to fit your design. For example, you might use the W’s from the logo in a creative way.

Disclaimer:  The submission form must be filled out completely and truthfully. If you fail to complete the form, give any false information or fail to reveal any pertinent information, you may be disqualified from the competition. All decisions are made by Young Women LEAD and are final.

The Fine Print: By entering, contestants warrant that each submission is their own original creation, and that no entry infringes on another contestant or person’s rights. Use of any photos, drawings, images or elements created by another person, except for use of the Young Women LEAD designated logos and slogans are strictly prohibited and will result in disqualification.

Designs that are considered offensive, or defamatory, or in violation of any person’s right to privacy, or other personal rights are not welcome. Entries that are incomplete, illegible or corrupted are void and will not be accepted. Entries may not include profanity, nudity or material deemed inappropriate or offensive, false or defamatory statements about any person or third party; abusive, discriminatory, racially inflammatory or other morally or legally objectionable depictions of material. In the opinion of the judges or the sponsor, if an entry includes any of the prohibited elements listed above, the entry will be disqualified, along with the contestant who submitted it. Entries should be appropriate to the Young Women LEAD brand identity. Sponsor reserves the right to modify or reject any entry, in their sole and absolute discretion, that does not meet the above criteria. Once submitted, an entry cannot be modified. By submitting an entry, the contestant acknowledges that his/her entry may be posted on the sponsor’s website and edited at the sponsor’s discretion.

Ownership: Young Women LEAD has exclusive rights to reproduce and use the entries. Entries become the property of Young Women LEAD and none will be returned or acknowledged except as provided herein. Submission of an entry grants the sponsor and its agents an unlimited, worldwide, perpetual, royalty-free license and right to publish, use, edit, adapt, modify and/or publicly perform the entry in any way, in commerce and in any and all media worldwide now known, or herein after developed, without limitation and without notice or consideration of the contestant. By submitting an entry, each contestant in the contest further agrees that his/her entry constitutes an assignment of all rights, including but not limited to intellectual property rights, and title in and to such entry and the photograph therein to the sponsor. Sponsor may require contestants to execute documents to confirm this transfer of rights. Failure to do so may result in disqualification. Upon submission you agree to forfeit any ownership and are prohibited from the independent reproduction or sale of any images. By virtue of a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, perpetual license for the designs granted by all finalists chosen prior to the voting process, Young Women LEAD shall have the right to edit, adapt, print (as on apparel) and publish any or all of the designs deemed finalist, and may use them in any media and/or the promotion of Young Women LEAD without compensation to the contestant, his or her successors or assigns, or any other entity. Young Women LEAD maintains the rights to receive all proceeds from the sale of any merchandise using the submitted artwork, without fee or other form of compensation due at any time to the contestant. Designs will be credited to the artist on the Young Women LEAD website, social media platforms and in all promotions relevant to that product. In the event that ownership of any design submitted is challenged in any manner by any person, Young Women LEAD may disqualify that design and will discontinue its use.
